This is the most common path for those already on the island. It requires booking an appointment in advance (the so-called Cita Previa) through the official government website. The immigration offices (Extranjería) are usually located at the main police stations (Policía Nacional), e.g. in Playa de las Américas or Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

If you act on your own, the wait for a free slot in the Cita Previa system can range from a few days to even several weeks in peak season. The document itself (a white A4 sheet with your details) is usually issued the same day or within a few working days of submitting the correct paperwork.
